3 Essential Oils for Healthy Teeth

There are three essential oils that can really support oral health. They are:

Frankincense

This oil has immune-enhancing properties that may help destroy viruses and bacteria. It is being studied for its properties towards cancer. It can prevent germs from forming on the skin, mouth or home. The antiseptic properties of frankincense help prevent gengivitis, bad breath, cavities, toothaches, mouth sores and other oral infections.

Myrrth

This oil has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, that may help relieve inflammation in the mouth and gums caused by diseases such as gingivitis and mouth ulcers. It can also be used to freshen the breath and it may commonly be found as an ingredient in mouthwash and toothpaste.

Clove

This oil has germicidal properties that help relieve dental pain, tootaches, sore gums and mouth ulcers. It contains eugenol, which has been used in dentistry for several years. Gargling with diluted clove oil helps ease throat. This oil is also good against bad breath and cavities. This oil is one of the ingredients of several dental products and medications, including mouthwash and tooth paste. Recent studies have also found that clove oil is effective as a soothing balm for children who are teething. It has to be applied extremely diluted to baby’s gums.

In the next post I will share how you can use them with a carrier oil in a practice known as oil pulling to ensure your teeth’s health!
